All-inclusive wedding venues near Louisville and Southern Indiana: what is really included
By the Venue Answers team · · 4 min read
"All-inclusive" is not a regulated term. One venue uses it to mean dinner, bar staff, decor and a DJ are in the price. Another uses it for tables, chairs and a dressing room. Below is what the label usually covers, what each of the 12 venues we track publishes about inclusions, catering and alcohol, and a simple way to compare them on the same footing.
Three kinds of venue hide behind one word
- Package venues. The venue supplies the food, the bar service and usually the staff, rentals and decor. You pick a package and a guest count. Fewer decisions, less control over vendors.
- Rental venues with a long inclusions list. You rent the space, and it comes with tables, chairs, linens, suites and staff. You still hire the caterer and, depending on the venue, the bar.
- Blank-canvas rentals. You get the property and little else. Every rental, every vendor and often the setup are on you.
A package venue can look expensive next to a rental, and a rental can look cheap until catering, bar and rentals are added. The only fair comparison is the total for the same guest count and the same scope.
Venues sold as packages
Three venues we track sell all-inclusive or inclusive packages as their main offering:
- The Magnolia (Clarksville, IN). Its Knot listing says all-inclusive packages start at $6,000, with a chef-prepared meal, servers, bartenders, an event manager, tables, chairs, linens, dinnerware, centerpieces, an arch and in-house audio. Catering is in-house only and the bar goes through the venue. The listing says service fees, tax and gratuity are extra.
- The Pepin Mansion (New Albany, IN). Its Knot listing shows an all-inclusive package starting at $5,000 that includes catering, rentals, DJ, photographer and officiant, plus a wedding planner and day-of coordinator. Outside catering and BYOB are allowed. Fees, tax and gratuity are listed as extra.
- The Destination (Salem, IN). Packages run $5,000 to $6,500 and up, plus the cost of food, which is charged per person by the on-site chef. Catering and alcohol both go through the venue, beer and wine only according to its Wedding Spot listing.
Note the pattern: even at package venues, food may be priced per person on top of the package, and service fees, tax and gratuity sit outside the headline number.

What "all-inclusive" usually leaves out
Even a true package rarely covers everything. Ask about each of these by name:
- Service charge and gratuity. A service charge is often near 20 percent of food and beverage, and it is not always a tip for staff.
- Sales tax. Indiana's rate is 7 percent and Kentucky's is 6 percent. Ask whether it applies to the rental, the food or both.
- The bar. "Bar included" can mean staff only, beer and wine only, or a full open bar. Ask what is poured and for how many hours.
- Photography, music, flowers, cake and officiant. Only one venue above lists photographer, DJ and officiant in its package.
- Event insurance. Cedar Bluff and Silo Farms both require it, and it is a separate purchase.
- Cleaning, security and overtime fees. Silo Farms charges a $250 cleaning fee on every booking.
How to compare a package venue with a rental
- Pick one guest count and use it for every quote.
- For the rental venue, add the caterer, the bar, any rentals not on its inclusions list, and any required fee.
- For the package venue, add per-person food if it is separate, plus service charge, tax and gratuity.
- Strike out anything one quote includes that you would not buy anyway, like a DJ when you already have a band.
- Compare the totals, then compare control: who picks the caterer, who runs the bar, and what you can bring in.
